Internal Display problem VPCCA2Z0E Please Help!

Ok so I have a big problem with my Vaio.

I bought this laptop from ebay needing a screen.
I purchased a screen that was meant for this model and I get nothing upon power up on the display.

The computer starts as normal and even works on an external display. I have tried 2 different LVDS (LCD) cables and nothing. I have had a look for a sleep switch but there doesnt appear to be one, I have even run a magnet across where there may be a magnetic switch but again, nothing.

Anybody else had this problem and found a resolution as im all out of luck on this?

Hi jamesdalepc,

You seem to have tried most normal troubleshooting procedures but have you tried shining a bright light on the screen (torch) to see whether there is a faint display?

If there is it would suggest that the screen is working but the LED backlight is not turning on. If no display whatsoever then arrange for a replacement screen.

I have no practical experience with LED backlight screens so can’t advise on the next step if the screen itself is working but suggest you speak to the supplier. Worst scenario is that there is a motherboard fault with the power supply to the LED but they may offer a more simple solution.

Thanks Rich, I did send the screen back to the supplier in the end as I wasnt getting a faint image, They have sent me a replacement in which I am now getting a faint image so the back light is now not coming on. I have tried all the usual routes ie: tried a different lvds cable, pressed the fn combos etc but still no lucj, starting to suspect it is the motherboard.

Hi jamesdalepc,

As stated previously I have no practical experience with LED backlights but I understand that there is a fuse on the motherboard that sometimes fails during the installation of a new screen. I understand that this can be bridged so it may be worth speaking to a competent repairer to seek their view on this.

Best of luck and let us know how things progress.
