Intel AT supported system lock due to Disable Timer Expired - help please!

Vaio laptop model SVS131B12M.

Had been working fine then I came back to it (already switched on) to find this error message:

Platform ID: 00001C9D

Intel (R) AT service provider ID: 5,000

Intel (R) AT supported system lock due to: Disable Timer Expired

Time left to enter password: 360 seconds

Please select one of the following for platform recovery:

1- User Password

2- Server Token Password

Select one of the following options to proceed. ..

At the bottom of the screen it then directs me to the Macafee website for help (but I haven't knowingly activated or installed any Macafee products).

Have tried switching it off overnight and rebooting but still the same problem.

Please can anyone help?

TIA

Hi scoobs2013,

This would seem to be a problem with Intel® Anti-Theft Service Powered by McAfee.

There is a discussion on this issue on the McAfee Communities forum:

https://community.mcafee.com/thread/49993?start=0&tstart=0

Support numbers are also provided somewhere in that thread – I suggest you give them a call...

Hope this helps,
Rich

Hi scoobs2013 and welcome.

Can you please try to find a valid model number - it will start SVS1311*** or SVS1312***.

The model you are quoting is a chassis type which is shared by several models.

Your model possibly has McAfee preinstalledf when you bought it.  What Firewall/AV product have you installed?

Hi scoobs2013,

I’m pleased that the problem has been sorted. If you can provide details of exactly how it may very well be of help to other members that encounter the same problem.

NEVER EVER do not activate/use this Intel Anti-Theft powered by McAfee !!!

I have the same problem with my brand new  VAIO SVS-1312R9EB

I was so stupid (trusting Sony Vaio team) that I activated this disease...

And of course it started to live its own life, locking suddenly my laptop at its own activity...

Had a phone call with McAfee phone support, what made me a phone bill of a fortune... I´m not a native English speaker - so get the right veeeery long password for unlock my brand new laptop was about one hour call to overseas priced by mobile phone rate...

NEVER EVER do not activate/use this <profanity removed by moderator>!!!!!!!!

Now it is sitting in my laptop inside.

I had a small hope to get rid off and did "clean install" - lot of work, but after all this hassle this holy <profanity removed by moderator> awakened anyway and locked again my laptop.

So I have forced to live with this <profanity removed by moderator>.

It makes me wonder that my next laptop will not be any more Sony Vaio. The previous 4 laptops were all Sony Vaio, but never happened such a <profanity removed by moderator> experience.

Shame, Sony Vaio...

If anyone wants to contact me, please, my e-mail is  <personal details removed by moderator>

How to do a real clean install???

It seems that I can not open a new thread - or I do not know how to open a new thread.

However my simple question is - how can I do a real "clean install" to get rid off from this stupid Intel & McAfee "Anti_Theft" <profanity removed by moderator>???

I´m ready to spend hours with my brand new laptop, to make a real clean install.

I want it to work next 2-3 years without problems...

Please Help me get free from this "Anti-Theft" disease!

Hi hegross69,

Not sure how to uninstall completely but page 21 of the user manual explains how to suspend or cancel the service.
