Hi fmttang,

Some manufacturers do provide a BIOS tweek in order for the replacement battery to be recognised. We have had a number of reports on this forum that applying this has bricked the notebook.

A genuine battery from Sony will need no alterations to the BIOS for it to be recognised.

Your choice but I recommend you purchase a qenuine battery.
