Handle "Invalid Password"

I've got an 'old' Sony Vaio PCG-5291 (PCG Z600NE) from a collegae, because it will not start up. I have to enter a password, but the known password (and all others) give "invalid password" as a result. I can't even enter the BIOS or Windows (98). Also the External Sony CD-ROM drive with recovery-CD does not work. Does anybody know how to log in to the BIOS? Can I remove the CMOS battery (where is it)?

If your prompted to enter a password to access the BIOS and you do not know the password then you will need to contact Vaio-Link for further assistance..
