I was really upset to find that - if you want Dolby 6.1 sound (by installing a new sound card - everything will work exept the Giga Pocket.
I contacted Sony, who said that it will only work with the on board sound card.
I can see why an on board sound card would be used - there is less sound degredation, and its cheaper. But, the sound card that the RZ series comes with is not that amazing. So it must just be an attempt to save a bit of cash?
What's upsetting is that I thought by buying a sony, I would get a good, upgradable machine.
People have suggested that I reinstall GigaPocket, and hopefully it will see the new sound card, rather than the disabled one.
Does anyone know what I should do. I refuse to give up....

I know, that sucks. It should have Dolby 5.1 by default.
could play round with the regestry for it, and try to find where gigapocket sets its sound card settings....
You can now get USB soundcards, top of the range kit they are, too Windows XP should already reconise them as new hardware and set it as default
It's a noted problem with Creative and Sony alike. Now they need to patch it
The 6:1 sound card works fine. Unfortunatly if you disbale the onboard sound card in the bios things aren't happy.
Am now replacing the tv card with a digital one. Unfortunate - but at least it supports thx and 6:1.

Digital is better than analogue for capture.
Its a pity - I like the GigaPocket - hopefully they will bring out a new version that will support digital TV and dolby 6:1 (by means of letting use whatever sound card is installed....
Ultimatly I'm still very happy with my sony.
M@..
They could also do with making it capture widescreen.
