Hi all
Ive come back to vaio after a while away. I sold my vaio desktop a few years agao and built one myself. But now i have bought a new laptop. A vaio FZ21S
Me and my dad both bought one the same day so got a bit of a deal. He has the FZ21Z, Slightly up from mine but im keeping my desktop for gaming.
Now im having a few problems getting 5.1 audio over HDMI to work. Im plugging the laptop into my 50" pioneer plasma and the display is fine. All works ok. Its the audio thats the problem.
I want to put 5.1 to my sony amp. The amp is a few years old now (Before HDMI) so doesnt have the connection. So what im doing is using the TV to convert HDMI audio to optical and then to the amp. I know this works as i have a pioneer DVD/HDD player and it does this fine. I have audio on the TV speakers but for some reason it wont send it down the optical cable to the amp. Now this could be a few things:
My amp doesnt support HDCP
Its not possible what im trying to do?
Do you have any suggestions to get the 5.1 audio working? According to the vista playback scren i have audio going out over HDMI but the amp doesnt pick it up. And in winDVD BD it only lets me choose 2 speakers and not 5.1
Is there a way to play somthing non HDCP to try it?
Ive spent all of today trying to get this working.
Plese help
No one have any ideas then? It seems a bit stupid that the FZ series doesnt have an optical out...
