Hi,

The fan is acting very strange on my new 17" Vaio notebook (Pentium M 2Ghz, 1GB ram).

It runs very uneven and is on for 20 seconds, off for 5 seconds, on for 20 seconds, off for 5 seconds and so it goes on. This is very irritating when working with it for a long time as you get disturbed every time it turns off.

When viewing the task manager the CPU usage is very low so I don't understand why it goes on and off like this.

I have had notebooks with dynamic fans before but they don't work this uneven!

Is there a way to fix it?

I don't think that you can fix it. You should write a message to Sony E-Support. They should have an answer for this problem.

Cleaning the fans might help, I say might because if they're already quite good then there's not much you can do

Go to your Adjust Power properties and select another setting say adaptive and observe what it does then put back on performance and see what it does. This may give you an idea if you need to reinstall the power management drivers
