expanding the memory of my vaio

Hi,

I have a Vaio VGN-FE31h and i'm quite happy with it but recently I considered upgrading the memory to 2GB. I still work on XP SP2, although I have the vista upgrade.
Is it worth it to upgrade to 2GB and more importantly, do I have to use to Sony Vaio memory or can I use any 1GB DDR2 SDRAM memory modules? The current ones are 2 512mb DDR2 (SDRAM??) modules @533mhz.

Hi RomanV

According to the specs your FE31H uses DDR2 533mhz So-Dimm modules

Have a look at Cruical.com several members have bought extra RAM from crucial and another benefit from buying from Crucial is there memory compatibility guarantee.

Also you may find this guide, from Sony, on how to upgrade your Vaio's memory of interest..

The upgrade will make a difference especially if you open a lot of documents, pictures or programs all at the same time. This is because the ram is quicker than writing and reading all the information from the hard drive which happens when you run out of ram.
