DVD DRIVE not working. NOTE BOOK VGN FS-115E DVD drive MATSHITA UJ-831Da

I have VGN FS-115E note book and the DVD drive MATSHITA UJ 831Da was working fine until last week. But now I am having problem and it is not reading any disks. When I click properties after inserting CDs it shows

CD Drive
file system unknown
used and free bytes 0

I tried uninstalling the driver (device manager and selected dvd/cd drive and then clicked uninstall) and after reboot the driver got installed automatically.

Even I have tried running recovery tool to recover C drive but still having the same issue.

please let me know what else I can do to resolve this issue.

Hi Ramesh,

Sounds like the drive's packed in. If you're within warranty period I'd get it fixed with VAIO-Link

Thanks for your reply. Warranty has expired already (note book is 1 year 9 months old now).

Do I need to send this to sony service centre to fix it?

What exactly the problem here (related to any hardware damage/failure?)
