So the FE31Z has the catch to close the screen on the base of the unit directly where your palms are when you use the device - so there is a slider to close it into the body of the device. BUT the slider has no "locking mechanism" and relies on light friction to hold the catch consealed against the pressure of the spring to keep it up.
After one month it is already popping up and digging into the palm of my hand!
Am I the only one who thinks this is a chronic design flaw ?
And frankly if I had noticed this prior to buying this machine I would have not bothered.

Hi Mike,
Welcome to Club Vaio,
I'm can't only remember reading a post on the AR21S - Release Catch Problems..
I guess you could open a case with Vaio-Link and see if they can offer a solution..
Same problem on mine, not a clever design, and like you I would have not purchased had I discovered it at the time.
The battery pack is also loose on my model, it doesn’t actually come out, just annoyingly rattles.
I am disappointed, you do not expect this of a quality manufacture and therefore do not look out for it when purchasing. Where I purchased mine it didint have the battery in, it was running on main supply. And you certantly could not have sat down with it on your lap to try out.
I will next time, lessoned learned !
If it's like the FE21M and similar models, there is a locking mechanism but you need to push it right across to lock it in, not like other models where it tidys away without manual lock, hopefully this is the case with your machines too, if not phone vaio-link.
Andy
Good grief !!!
You are right.
You slide the lock accross then a tiny firm push more and it moves about 1mm more with a satisfying click to firmly lock the latch away.
Problem solved (until that little click wears out )
Many Thanks
Mike
Thanks for the info Andy...
