Cursor disappears when typing?

Hi
I have a problem that when typing in a text box the cursor will just vanish every ten letters or so and the text will stop, you have to click back on the text to carry on. This will continue to happen all the time.

It will also go back a page when browsing the net if you move the mouse across the page?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Nick and welcome to the Club.

Does this effect come up in a specific application or generally? Do you use an external mouse? Same effect with our without external device?
Do you have an updated virus protection software installed and observing your system?

It mainly happens when using internet text boxes but also in other aplications when typing. I have but do not use an external mouse.
I am using Avast Virus protection and it is up to date
