CPU for VAIO RX2D

Hi,

I have a VAIO RX2D and my CPU is defect. Now I'm looking for a replacement, but I connot find a CPU with 1.7 GHz anymore. Anybody knows if the installed motherboard (ASUS P4B266-LM) can work with other CPU than Pentium 4 1.7GHz? If yes, which are possible.

Thanks for your help,
GB

Here's a link to the manual for your motherboard:

Thank you for your answer, but i'm not sure if P4B266 is the same as P4B266-LM

I will try to find a CPU described on that web page.

This is the MoBo product page for ASUS UK. They list the M, C, E & SE versions of the board but no mention of LM. Must be just M.

Regardless, they all list CPU supported range from 1.4 GHz to 2.4GHz+, so I would safely say that you can stick in 2.4GHz if you wanted.

Basically the board was made specially for Sony & Sony are the ones doing the updating. In that case you should check out your options via Vaio-Link :

http://www.vaio-link.com

You will need to register your rig & will then beable to access manuals, updates & the likes for your system. Once registered, just click on enter as vaio user.
