Connecting Desktop to Laptop

Can any one help, I have a Desktop VGC-RA304 and a Laptop VGN-BX194V I would like to link them together preferably via wireless for file sharing printing and scanning etc, Although reasonably computer literate on the mechanics no good at all, I have the I have the wireless lan acces point on the desktop is this going to be the answe

If you do not have a router there's no problem, use the Ad-Hock mode.
