Change HDD Festplatte??

hello.

i have a vgn-a215z
with original hdd 60gb ibm travelstar 4200 rpm
the only thing good about that drive is the buffer size. it has 8MB (like the current available drives).
but it ist soooo slow. and too small.

is there any problem with changing the drive?
i want to built in a hitachi (ibm) with 100gb and 7200 rpm and 8MB buffer.

is that a problem?

what work has to be done? new windows ...

is that drive compatible with that vaio?

who has done such a change in his own?

thank you and excuse me for my bad english if it is

:smileyblush:

Hi,

Your English is fine.

Windows will work fine but obviously you will have to reinstall on the new HDD (recovery disks will work Ok).

The drive will be compatible with your Vaio as long as it is physically the same dimensions.

Yes I did this, I replaced a 30Gb 4,200 drive with a 40Gb 5,400 drive a couple of years ago on a GRX. 7200 were not available then and if they were they cost too much :slight_frown:

Putting the new 7,200 rpm drive in your Vaio will be the best speed upgrade you can carry out on your laptop.
