Bootup query

I did post about this before. but got no responses. Sorry for repeating the post, but the problem persists, albeit that it causes no problems in use. Despite that, I am concerned that there might be an underlying problem which will get worse.

The problem is that the Phoenix Bios screen sometimes appears on booting the machine, but at other times doesn't. Sometimes the small progress indicator with the green bars moving along it (Microsoft Corporation under it) is complete, but sometimes the righthand border at end of it is missing. Lastly, the login screen appears with a delay to the top or bottom half of the screen, which is black for a second or so.

The machine, an SZ61, running Vista, runs impeccably for the rest of the time, so I perhaps should not concern myself. However, it looks as though something is not right, and if anyone can suggest a solution I'd be grateful.

Try to update the Bios...

I did check the BIOS, but I have apparently gfot the current verison for my model. Not sure if I can reset the BIOS, although I would expect that it's already at default values, as I have not knowingly altered any of the settings.

Thanks for your suggestion.
