Bluetooth Software Update

I have recently purchased a new Sony VAIO and have been installing all of the new software updates. One of which was the bluetooth software which comes on board on my laptop. The installer tells me to manually remove the currently installed program, reboot, and then run the installer. When I run the install programme it asks me to plug in bluetooth device however I cannot do that. Now the computer does not recognise that it has a bluetooth device and the software installer can't finish.

What do I do?

Laptop: VGN-C2S

Hi willeaton,

welcome to Club Vaio..

Before you removed the Bluetooth stack did you ensure that the wireless switch was turned on and check that the bluetooth/wireless led light was on..

If you did this, at the point that you are asked to plug in bluetooth device, do you get the option to click OK..?

If so click OK and the installation should correctly install the bluetooth internal device..

I have attached the bluetooth installation instruction below for your information..

1. Download the file TOABLT-01360508-UN.exe and save it to a download directory (please note this directory for later reference)
2. Verify that Wireless switch is turned on & Bluetooth is turned on by Wireless Switching Utility. (Green & Blue Led light ON)
3. Open Control Panel (Click [Start -> Control Panel)
4. Double-click the Add or Remove Programs
5. Select "Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba" in the Add or Remove Programs dialog box and click Remove
6. Click OK to completely remove the application
7. Restart the computer
8. Wait until the computer has finished loading
9. Go to the download directory and double-click TOABLT-01360508-UN.exe to start the installation.
10. Click Next at the Installation Wizard
11. Wait while Setup performs the requested operation
12. Restart the computer.

Hi, thanks for your response, I managed to figure out the problem today. I followed those instructions that you said above when they were given to me on the website. The problem was that the laptop/vista works differently to xp with how things are installed. When you restart the machine it does not seem to finalise the installs/uninstalls and so until I used a different method of restarting (actually sleep) it would not work.

Help.I have a Vgn-c2m/w. Although my computer initially had a bluetooth symbol in the device manager, when I removed the Toshiba stack and replaced it with the new program, I couldn't find the bluetooth device. I couldn't find the wireless switch or spot the blue light.

Hi shond,

welcome to Club Vaio..

You should find the wireless switch on the front right hand side of your Vaio ..

or actually on the front left side. If however you have it switched on, its because you havent done a proper restart since you removed the software, I think i found that "restart" doesnt work, however pressing start and then what appears to be the shut down button works.
