Blu Ray question - VGN-AR51M - NEED HELP PLEASE

Hello guys,

I just registered my new laptop I got for christmas.

Can someone please help?

My parents got me two Blu-Ray discs (The Simpsons & The Marine). Both bought in Ireland (Virgin in the square)

The laptop was bought in Liffey Valley (Sony shop)

The Blu-Ray discs are not working. Getting this error 'This disc has been coded for Region B only and will not play in this machine. Please eject this disc and play on a Region B player '
Does anyone know why this problem is occuring if both products was both in Ireland (Europe Region B)??

Hi Del47 and welcome to Club Vaio.

Two things to check: -

First: -
Check your player is set to Region B.
Open WinDVD BD
Click on the Audio Speaker
Click on the little 'cog-wheel' to open the Settings Menu
Check your drive is set to Region B as default. I have heard of some being released with the setting as Region A (USA)
Check the last tab to see what version of WinDVD BD you have installed (should be InterVideo WinDVD BD 8.0.8.425)

If you don't have the latest update of Win DVD BD installed, you can download it here: -

Hi Blencogo,

Thank you for your reply.
I just sorted it just before i read your reply!! I couldnt change the region while a disc was in, just realise i had to eject it first before changing the region

Thank you for your time, very much apreciated!!

P.S. Is there any other players you use to play Blu-Ray apart from WinDvD??

Hi Del47,

Glad you have got it sorted.

Several members prefer using Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra. Look here: -
