Blemish marks on battery cover, (The return)

I started a thread ages ago asking if other people had noticed metallic marks appearing on the shiny battery cover on the back of the player, Some replied saying they had put their similar probs down to a reaction to sweat & acids due to skin contact., I settled for this, as an explanation, but recently noticed that the marks had grown a little, & was worried that battery leakage may have been to blame,, So i removed the battery compartment & rolled the battery around to find no leakage probs whatsoever,,:smileyhappy: Oh THE JOY!! After id finished dancing around the room with happiness as i put the player back together i noticed the Main unit of the player inside to be made by ......TOSHIBA!! Now there is an electronics company that have always served me well!! TOSHIBA items owned,,,,,,,,,.......... TOSHIBA LARGE SCREEN HOME CINEMA TV
TOSHIBA VCR
TOSHIBA DVD PLAYER.....:smileylaugh: ..

You want to thank your lucky stars mate. What if you'd looked inside it and it said Fisher Price or Tomy? You'd have to beat yourself with a big stick.

WOW – I’m really surprised about that.
SONY and TOSHIBA are age old rivals and are currently engaged in arguing over which Blue laser optical disc format will be “standard”
It isn’t unusual for SONY to outsource products. All SONY flat panels are made by SAMSUNG because SONY have no flat panel manufacturing facility.
It’s just the TOSHIBA tie in I find surprising – I thought they were competitors in the literal sense of the word!

Could be that Tosh make the HDD?

I have scratches on my battery cover too... just wear and tear I guess...

Aye – much more likely – maybe the “Manufactured By Toshiba” label was actually on the back of the HDD which itself forms part of the complete VP unit “made” (i.e assembled) by SONY
