Hello.
I joined this forum because I am experiencing some technical problems after installing windows vista ultimate.
Well my laptop is a FE series (FE-21M).
First of all, from the first time my computer loaded vista, i got a message saying: "The battery you are using is not compatible..." and i had to hibernate the system and get the battery removed.
The second problem has to do with Processor Bus Speed. I opened the VAIO Control Center and i realized that in Power Management->Performance, the FSB Speed was set to 400 MHz, so I selected 533 MHz. It normally asks for a computer restart, so I did restart the computer, but when the time comes to load the windows the computer does not do anything, so i have to turn off the computer by the hard way..I reopened VAIO Control Center and still 400 MHz were ticked. I keeped on trying to change the FSB Speed but the same thing happens when booting win vista...
Any Ideas ?
Sorry, i attached my post in the Vista Thread
Hi vaiosgr,
I thought the FSB on your T2300 processor should be 667mHz.
I'm afraid we have seen this with the battery before and I don't remember anyone getting a satisfactory solution. All you can do is to reinstall all the Sony Utilities and hope for the best.
The culprit is probably ISBMgr.exe - try stopping this from running at startup or disabling it altogether.
It seems that the Vaio Utilities are not entirely compatible with Vista Ultimate. Sony do not support the use of Vista Ultimate on any Vaio and have simply not tested any of the Vaio Utilities with this product.
Did you do a clean install of Vista and a fresh install of all drivers and utilities? Upgrades over XP seem to cause problems.
Well, my mistake about the FSB. I was too furious by the time I wrote these....
I meant memory bus...http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa226/vaioslar/membus.jpg
Also, I can't use the S buttons.... It's not big deal for me, i just can not understand some things......:(
About the battery now. So a good idea is to remove VAIO Utilities, restart the computer, install again the Utilities and then insert the battery ?
About the install. I clean installed the windows...
P.S. I never believed that by choosing the Ultimate version of Vista I would have problems...
Next time I will try to pay less
For the FSB, this depends on whether you'll be using it a lot on the move or at home, it depends on what you want.
