Hi Gentlemen,
Some time ago I was given a Buffalo 400GB external Hard Drive which came with a back-up software package called Memeo.
I am having some problems sorting the back-ups that I want using Memeo and even though Memeo are quite good at replying to my requests for help, I am a bit worried about the software pachage itself insofar as they say (as a result of my questions) that an incremental back-up facility is not yet available although they do expect an update 'soon'.
Can anyone provide any recommendations as to what a good back-up software package to use with my external drive might be, is it Memeo or maybe Norton 'Ghost', or something else?
I would appreciate your advice please. Thanks.
Gyron
WinZip now has scheduled backups
Hi Thalamus & Kee-Lo,
Thank you both for your replies, I will have a look at both. Do I get the impression that neither of you are keen on 'Memeo' or 'Ghost' is it simply that you have never tried them.
Thanks again,
Gyron
Norton Ghost is not compatable with the Sony Recovery Utility. It simply calibrates the sizes of the partitions in a different way leading to corruptions during the recovery process. No other recovery software has this issue according to Sony Vaio Link
Hi TonyBeard,
Thnaks for reply.
That's very interesting. The Vaio (VGN-FE31H) I bought my wife at Christmas has this software (Ghost), pre-installed and now the trial license has expired she is pestered every start-up with a prompt to purchase the software.
If 'Ghost' is incompatible with with the Sony recovery utility (which her computer has I beleive - had to use it three times since I bought the damm machine), then why do Sony pre-install it I wonder?

Never used Memeo, might have a look though.
Hi gyron,
I've not used Memeo and as Tony Beard has stated ghost has problems on a Sony PC..

I think some confusion has gone on here, there's no longer a problem with Ghost, obviously as it's now used by Sony, so I don't see why you can't use it.
