Hi Mfhurley,
welcome to Questions & Answers..:smileyhappy:
No unortunately it's not possible to add Skype to 2010 or older Bravia TV's..:smileysad:
Thank you Thalamus. Eventhough only 2 years old this news is disappointing!
Now retired and having time, I am about to add my "old" Bravia and also my Blu-ray: BDP-S5000ES, player to my home broadband Network. Please let me know if it is possible to up-grade this Blu-ray model, still top range, I believe, to recieve Skype, You-Tube, Facebook etc. Thanks again. mfhurley.

Thank you also Catmambo.
Have read your helpful article.I am now clear on my Bravia's limitations but am still unsure if my 2009, Blu-ray BDP-S5000ES will up-grade for these latest Internet services?
Thanks, mfhurley
Hi
No, Internet video enabled hardware didn't arrive until 2010, so you Blu-ray wouldn't be compatible.
I'd recommend looking at an SMP-N200 Netbox which would add all the video functionality at a decent pricepoint, without duplicating your existing hardware - http://www.youtube.com/sonyuk#p/u/11/CsPp5w1X74I . If you are looking for Skype in addition, maybe checkout the BDP-S780. I guess this would replace your S5000 so it depends if you are looking to replace this or not.
Hope this helps
Thanks
Yes, SMP-N200 is the answer for me.
The product Videos are most helpful.
Thanks again. mfh.:smileyhappy:
