Setting up ARC on KDL40EX503 to output TV sound to Denon AVR

Hi,

I have recently set-up a 40EX503 connected to a Denon 1911 AVR with a BD373 via HDMI cables.

All is working well on the bluray with great 5.1 surround sound.

What I would like to do is output sound from TV (for Internet channels and a SCART attached cable box) through the HDMI cable.

What do I need to do to get this set-up working - I do not have an optical cable between the TV and the AVR as I understood the ARC feature would support sound from TV to AVR - however when I choose the sound setting for external audio I get no sound - am I missing something here?

Thanks

For me and several others, the answer was a new HDMI cable. Works a treat now.

Firstly - are you connecting to Denon on HDMI 1 - ARC only works on this one HMDI port.

I have KDL37EX503 working sporadically with ARC - works at start but the sound then stops after a few minutes. I am struggling to diagnose whether this is the TV or my Sony Home Cinema system (BDV-E370). What I have (partly) working is for ARC where the signal is from another HD source (Cable box) and not the TV itself or a SCART connection.

I am having the same problem on my EX720.

From what i read and feedback I recieved from the forum you need an HDMI cable which is 1.4 compliant and that is all. I still have to source one.

In the meantime I connected my tv via the 3.5mm connections to the phonos in of the home cinema and connected the media player via optical connection to the home cinema. My line of thought is that the transmission via DVB is only stereo and any streamed audio would only be stereo as well.

Still if anyone manages to solve this issue I'd really like to hear the outcome

regards
