Picasa on Sony Bravia TV unable to show photos from my webalbum

I am the lucky owner of a Sony Bravia KDL-40EX721 TV.

The TV is connected to the Internet through WiFi, and untill recently, the installed Picasa-app worked like a charm, showing every photo I had uploaded to my picasa web album without any problems.

As of the beginning of december 2011, suddenly the app was unable to show the photos. I still see albums, and if I choose an album I also see the small thumbnails of every photo. However if I try clicking one of the photos, the app tries to load the picture (just like it did before), but then I get a "content error". All other internet applications on the TV works fine.

I believe Google made some changes in how the picasaweb-pictures are stored, but I'm not sure.

Anyone else experiencing problems with Picasa on their Sony TV. (or any other brand)

Hi Besvend10, I had a similar problem on my Sony Bravia KDL-46EX713 (along with many others) back in Jan or Feb of this year, fortunately it was fixed by Picasa after a couple of weeks. It now has returned although I'm able to view both albums and pictures, the pictures are not displaying at their full size only a little larger than thumbnail. Hoping Picasa sort this soon. It may be worth refreshing your internet content regularly.

Thanks for your reply! 🙂 I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one experiencing this problem. I'll follow your advice and arm myself with patience and try refreshing my internet content on a regular basis.

Hi Benjamin, Saturday morning 11:10 I,ve just tried to connect to Picasa and I'm now getting "This service is currently offline. please try again later." hopefully things are being sorted.

posted concern on picasa google web site and sony today - I cannot get webphotos on sony bravia 32 - tried everything-resetting to factory settings- unplugging modem. No good at all - also photos are small and in the centre fo screen - if thisproblem  has been on the go for sometime not impressed with either google or Sony  for not restoring or informing their supporters - or have I missed the updates ??

Hi, I'm still getting "This service is currently offline. Please try again later" no pictures or albums of any type, problem seems to be just with Picasa, all other internet services working fine.

I'm getting the "This service is currently ofline" message too. I'll cross my fingers that this is due to Sony/Google working on it.

Hi,

I'm having exactly the same problem - which is reassuring as it's not just me!

However, it's very frustrating as this was one of the main reasons for buying this TV.

Any suggestions on how to fix this will be gratefully received!
