I own a KDL-32D3000 and this spontaneus turning off and on is happening also. We have days when it doesn't appear, but also when its going on for hours.
Even when the TV is on, and I turn it of with the remote (so middle led turn red) it still can switch off. So I figured it would be something with the timer function, although all timers have been turned off (as far as I know)
Also disabled the automatic update function under the Digital Settings. No Luck.
Disconnected all cables: still facing this off/on switching.
Since there is no service manual available (can you believe that!) and no new firmware is available, I am rather stuck.
Found this thread (see below), so it seems to be a fault with the product(line) and not an incident!
