KDL37EX723 - how serious is the crosstalk?

I'm considering purchasing the KDL37EX723 TV, however I have a small issue I'd like some clarity on, if possible.

The KDL37EX723 is a 37" LED edge-lit LCD 3D Ready TV, part of the ex723 series of TVs. Model information is:

http://www.sony.co.uk/product/tv-94-37-lcd/kdl-37ex723

I've found this model at only £75 more then its 2D-only counterpart (the ex524), so it seems a logical idea to pay just a tad more for 3D capabilities.

However, in reading review of this TV (written back in May/June of this year), there is lots of concern over the crosstalk, one reviewer saying it is sometimes "borderline unwatchable".

My qeustions are:

*Does anyone own a ex723 series TV and use the 3D capabilities? Is the crosstalking really that severe?

*Has a firmware update for this TV already fixed this issue or, conversely, made it worse? The reviews were written 6 months ago.

*Is there a particular model of Sony 3D glasses that is preferred for this model of TV? I understand that the glasses model makes no difference to crosstalk, but it seems like a logical question to ask nontheless.

Many thanks,

Hi,

crosstalk can be the bugbear of many 3D tv's and generally although most of these reviews are correct (thats what they are paid to do) they can be a little over critical.

theres only one tv to date that appears to have minimal or no crosstalk and thats the very expensive Panny.

The EX723 at this price point represents excellent value for money and you should audition the set proir to purchase and try out the 3D capability for yourself.

John Lewis do it for £649 plus £50 cashback redeption voucher plus free 5 year warranty and their service is excellent, you can always return it if not happy.

its been said the later 3D Glasses fair better than their older counterparts and Sony can provide filters for these which is said to reduce flicker, you can obtain these from Sony through this forum.

Heh, purchased it from John Lewis last night - had some vouchers left over from my wedding a few months ago so brought it down to a nice £549 including the cashback - we pick it up on Sunday! It was by far one of the best, if not the best 37" on offer at that price point just based on its 2D picture (which was praised in the reviews, and in person it really shone). So internet enabled, 3D and Freeview HD and John Lewis' guarantee to boot can't be beaten!

I didn't get to see the 3D function, but looking at the latest Sammys on display with 3D last night, even they had crosstalk, so I'm happy to accept a bit of it!

Glasses will have to wait a little while, all spent up for now! But I'll be getting the newest ones available when I can, thanks!

We were away this last weekend and we've had issues with delivery (including with John Lewis)! We're still waiting on a bookcase we bought from them 3 weeks ago... :slight_frown:

TV is excellent so far! Still got a few features to explore on it!
