KDL32EX723 Hard Drive
I'm thinking about buying a bus-powered 500GB hard drive, like the Buffalo MiniStation. Does the USB port supply the usual 500 milliamps, or is there some other reason that this won't work?
I'd rather not have the HDD on a separte power supply.
Thanks

Hi,
as i understand it you need to use a powered hard drive and Sony recommend the Western Digital My Book Essentials but other drives are known to work,
its really no hardship to have a separate power supply is it?.
regards.

With further research, this doesn't always seem to be the case.
Sony seem t be in the process of launching their own branded HDD, supplied without a PSU:

Any further thoughts?
Thanks

JDavis,
from me?, no but its sleek and sexy is'nt it, i certainly missed that!, however it is model specific so i assume you can only use it on Sony products so therefore limited to that (so it says).
certainly worth a look is'nt it.
