KDL-42W705B Media Player - MKV files?

I have the KDL-42W705B and would like to play MKV video files from a USB drive which I plug into the TV.

The TV can play some video files, but it seems not to be able to play MKV files.

Is there anything I can do to upgrade the media player or fix this issue?

Also, is there a way to display the full filename of the files on the USB stick, rather than the tiny display icons it uses by default?
