KDL-26EX320 Wifi issue

Good day!

1. Has KDL-26EX320 built-in wifi or not? In other words will I have to buy a dongle separately to connect a wireless network? I`m confused a bit.

2. Is it possible to bypass 30 gb limit of storage capacity for tv recording?

Happy day Microgradient,

1- The TV is wifi ready, you have to buy the dongle separately

2- if it is mentioned in the specs 30gb you cannot override it

Thanks

KDL-CX520, thanks for your answer, but tv has got "Built-in Wi-Fi" not "Wi-Fi Ready" as decribed in technical specifications, surprisingly, it can discover wireless networks, but can`t connect them (local network - fail, internet - fail). Besides, in i-manual the dongle is stated only as a tip "for smooth video streaming", also the tv doesn`t warn whether the dongle is needed or not while trying to connect. By the way, "WiFi built-in" means that the hardware needed for functionality is already built into the device, i.e. . (Difference Between WiFi Ready and WiFi Built-in Blu-ray Players)

Why don`t clearly state in i-manual whether the dongle is necessary or not for a particular model instead of confusing "built-in"s or "ready"s? (this is for sony).

Due to "built-in" it has to operate properly without the dongle, but it doesn`t.

Ooops, you are right, i thought all EX series is wi-fi ready , after i checked your model specs it is wi-fi Built-in , this new info for me...appologize for that

i know what are difference between them, and you don't need a dongle to connect to inetrnet. but why your wif-fi not connected !!

Could you give more details such as what router do you have? and how did you do the configration step by step?

Thanks

Microgradient,

your tv has wireless lan built in so you will NOT need a dongle,

sorry about that.

OK, I`ve got wireless home network with access to internet, smathpones and notebooks can properly access both local network and Internet with the following configurations:

TV

WLAN: on

Firmware: PKG3.407EUA 31.08.2011 (latest)

Router

Gateway:192.168.1.1

Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Primar DNS: 192.168.1.1

DHCP: ON

SSID Broadcast: ON

On tv I select wireless network->scan. It scans and finds network, I leave ip settings "auto", no proxy, then "Save and connect". It tries to connect, eventually I get the message: "Local network: failed, Internet: failed".

I turn off DHCP, manullay set tv`s ip to 192.168.1.x, gateway, subnet mask, dns are same as mentioned above.

Whatever x is (assuming x as a host address), the result is the same, i.e. "Local network: failed, Internet: failed".

Suprisingly, after each connection attempt ip address is resetted to 169.254.x.x, mask - 255.255.0.0 and gateway - 0.0.0.0. Is it a bug?

Thanks for feedback

I understood The TV find your network router and should display its name (your router SSID), if it does not show your router name that mean it was scan for a neighbour router .

Do you have secure wireless connection to your router which need input of username and password?

You already try to assign static IP address for your TV by enter 192.168.1.x in network manual mode, this is a good point , but DONT switch off DHCP in the same time, by doing that the router will not assign IP address to TV,, Please keep the DHCP always ON

The IP address 169.254.x.x you stated above indicate that you have neighour router picked up by your tv ( may be)

There is also one step you may try, go to your router configration page and change the wireless broadcast channel (most router default setting are channel 11). choose any other channel number

Kindly let me know the results so we can go further more.

Thank you

KDL-CX520, there is only one router, not more, no neighbour routers at all. I left DHCP on, tried this way, again nothing helps. 169.254.x.x is not neighour router, this ip is always set after unsuccesful attempts, so do mask and gateway, as I mentioned above. Changing the channel to other possible values not working. Maybe built-in adapter doesn`t support ad-hoc mode, where can I get that? I can`t find anything on supported mode.

Firmware is the latest.
