Firmware update & Mac OS X

According to the download page for my Bravia KDL-26EX302, I should find a file called 'firmware.upd' downloaded for firmware version M8.721. But instead I get a file called simply ' DownloadedFile' on my Mac. It has the correct file size (36.141,048MB) and is shown as a text file in 'Get Info'. Can this be put on a USB storage device and used for the update as it is or renamed or not used at all?

Same problem here, except that the downloaded file was named as "Unknown". I tried to put it on a USB stick but the TV couldn't read it. I tried emptying my browser cache etc. but got the same result every time. So I tried a different browser (Firefox) and it worked !

I did get it to download, too, in Safari by using the 'If your download does not start...' link below the 'Download' key on the Firmware Downloads page. Success!

Now if Sony would only email us any time a new firmware update is released......
