Fastforward / Rewind functions not working perfect , while playing movie on KDL-46CX520 TV

Hello All,

I am really fan with this Sony forums which give excellent support for customers.

I noticed a problem on my CX520 series TV and would like to share with others for advise.

I have KDL46CX520 connected by ethernet cable to internet and working fine , also the TV is connected to PC through home network using the Serviio DLNA software and working fine.

While playing any movie file from DLNA or Bravia internet video or even from USB flash memory, i found the buttons on the remote control fastforward (>) and Rewind (<) are useless.

For more clarification - if i try to fast forward any movie at speed x1 it may working fine and i see the picture running fast on the screen BUT if i try fast forward at x2 or x3 speeds the picture freeze and/or sometimes the movie restart from the begining . The same happened if i am using Rewind function too.

I believe there is a bug in the media player software built in TV (correct me if i am wrong) - because the problem occures with any movie play from USB flash memory / HDD which is directly connected to TV port  ( if this occurs only with DLNA or Bravia internet video we can doubt about the connection speed and how is fast the data streaming speed of the movie).

Another probability,,  the problem can happen if the TV engine (internal processor) has low speed and cannot handle the fast data transfer during Fastforward or Rewind ( correct me if i am wrong).

Note: i own another two units of KDL-32CX520 with the same problem

Do anybody have the same or similar problem?

Well, you have a problem or problems issues with your HX model. (i had read your topic)

And i have more than 5 major problems issues with all of mine CX520 TV units {(mkv container files not working , all subtitle files not supported, TV media player f.forward / rewind usless, progressive scan from DVD not compatible with TV picture, volume control delay at switch ON,......etc.)} other problems too which i ignored.

MKV not supported on this tv.

For fast rewinding problem may be insufficient bandwidth I will try on their households of the same model, and tell you.

At the entrance connects the DVD? You may need to adjust a setting input.

Thank you for your feedback on the topic, i know about that cdec table in advance, already printed and hang as big poster on wall hang beside tv to always remember what are playable and non playable with SONY

mkv container file is not playable will all SONY TVs , not only with my model , meanwhile it is playable with chinese TV !! (i think to buy one later)

fast.forward / rewind problem is standard problem sold with the CX520 TV. Due to mistake in design, theTV processor has low speed mismatching with its media player.

Regarding the progressive scan with the DVD player, i would tell you that my DVD was connected before to an old Sony KLV- 32S200A , the setting progressive scan ON (576p) was working fine through components cable , but with KDL-46CX520 i have to switch OFF the progressive scan to be (576i) output , if i did not do so,  the picture will be fulll by interlace , this is funny issue with a new model.

Just for sharing , i would like to update you, that i managed to get some files such as m2ts play fine when using the fastforward / rewind buttons

One of these m2ts files has video stream bitrate  15,969 Kbps and still working fine.

What is going on? why some files are working fine while others file types cause picture freeze !! really strange
