Error 5066

Since I took the wireless receiver out to use a memory stick a couple of weeks ago I have been getting Error 5066 when I try to use the internet connection. I have tried re-connecting many times, but had no success. Can anyone help me please?

I had another try last night and I hope I have got ot sorted now - a family member has suggested that I may have had a problem with my router rather than the TV/dongle.

Thanks for the responses anyway.

Hi,

Could you pls explain about your wireless receiver model , do you mean it is Sony wireless dongle?

Yes, it is the Sony dongle.

Sorry it was late and I was tired and frustrated by this extra problem I don't seem to be able to resolve so didn't explain myself properly.

I've looked at some other thresda on this which suggest a factory reset, but that hasn't worked either!

As you know , Sony stated in the manual that unit should be plugged only to Sony devices , So i guess you had installed some files on it as a memory stick.

If I am in your place i may do the following:

Connect the dongle to PC and explore what files are there.

Backup all files to your harddisk

Carefully delete any file / Folder you doubt it is not belong to Sony , or copy its names here to for suggestion

connect the dongle back to Sony and check

Failed to get it work, take it to Sony service dealer and explain exactly what you have did, as per warranty policy it will be considered misuse but i guess they will do it for you free under goodwill policy, specially it is not a hardware failure . it is just firmware reloading

Hi,

its not possible to overwrite anything to a wireless dongle so disregard that, have you checked the settings on your tv for wireless set up? and are we talking about the tv the dongle was connected to?,

if all else fails its likely the dongle may be faulty, i would be inclined to take it back to the shop and say its not working and request an exchange.

I have not tried to use it as a memory stick, so the first answer is irrelevant.
