connecting sub-woofer to 46EX503

Hi,

am trying to connect a sub-woofer to Ex503.

There are audio out RCA connectors on the 503 but they seem disabled. I've searched through i-manual ( oh for a paper manual !)  but can't find how to do this. Any help gratefully received.
