Coloured lines appearing across Sony Bravia KDL Model

Hi

I bought our 50" Sony Bravia Kdl model tv spending about £1000 on it around nearly 3yrs ago. After 1yr when it was out of the warranty with Macro where we bought it when switched on it would start to make a loud humming noise which goes and comes back from time to time. Also coloured lines started to appear at the top of the screen started off being very thin but is now about 6" thick and red in colour. Can anyone diagnose this problem?

this is a common problem with 2009 sets, i have a set on loan at the moment doing exactly the same thing, 14 lines now randomly spread from the top of the screen and down the right hand side and this is a 40 inch 2009 set, there are other posts on here that will help, im just surprised you left it this long but its not too late to do something about it, have a read of the link below
