Hi
I have owned my Bravia now for over 6 months and I really love it. One thing that I am disappointed however from Sony in general is the lack of apps. Skype has been very useful indeed whilst Facebook and Twitter personally have been a failure. The recent ticker option of twitter has been a great thing. Living in Malta I do not have access to streaming video or music like other countries have, no iplayer etc.... The availability of Youtube is a great plus especially now that HD content is being offered.
However I still feel Sony is loosing a lot especially to Samsung. Samsung have an app store and a number of apps can be run on their TVs or Bluray units making the overall experience a better one. Whilst a majority of apps may be useless there are apps like ESPN score center which most sports fans would want.
Recently i was tempted to go for a Samsung homecinema mainly for their apps content but opted out for a number of reasons.
I strongly suspect that during the next CES to be held in 6 weeks time Sony will unleash the new TV and bluray line up and offer a new app store which will be available only to the 2012 lineup.
If that will be the case then Sony would have failed big time. If on the other hand Sony shows love to 2010 and 2011 line ups as well then that would win more customers.
The ball is in Sonys court, let's see what is their next move.
