I am having trouble updating my Xperia X10. I can get all the way to the part where it says to hold down the back button and plug in usb cord. I do this and yet nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? Please help

Hi Megan140, to update with SE Update Service, make sure your X10 is off.

Few things you can try...
Are you using PC Companion? If so try using Sony Ericsson Update Service downloadable from here:- http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/softwaredownloads/detailed/updateservice/xperiax10?cc=gb&lc=...
Have you tried using a different USB port on your computer?
You could download the drivers for the X10 to your computer from here....
http://developer.sonyericsson.com/wportal/devworld/downloads/download/dw-x10drivers?cc=gb&lc=en
You could try another computer, this worked for me in the past or delete all the Sony Ericsson software from your PC and reinstall again and see if this works.
Hope something from the above suggestions helps.

I am currently trying with Sony Ericsson Update and maybe I'm just doing the back button and plug in wrong. I've tried while the phone is still starting up, fully started up, holding down the button while pushing "mount", mounting without holding the button.
I have tried to download the drivers but have no idea how. I have androzip on my phone and am currently trying to use that.

I'm just testing to see if it worked. I'm having trouble getting it to turn on. The thing said it might take a while but is the green light supposed to flash once and then nothing else happens?

Don't bother about the phone, it won't be turned on.
Just leave it to SE Update Service to flash your phone with new update. Make sure you read and follow the on-screen instructions carefully.
