I recently bought a UBP-X800 blu ray player. Although I do play movies on it, the main use is as a transport for CDs, DVD ans Blu-ray audios and the odd SACD, which I play through a traditional stereo amp via a Rega Dac. I have the Rega connected to the Sony via coax.
CDs play fine, outputting at 44.1khz as you'd expect, but the bluRay and DVD audio which have higher res signals (96khz normally) still seem to output to the Dac at only 44.1 - 48khz too. I've tried all sorts of combinations of settings and nothing seems to make any difference.
Have I hit a limitation of the machine or is there a problem?
