Hi
I hope someone can help me.
I've just purchased a UBP-X700 bluray player, when i plug in my HDD that has my video files on, it doesnt show any files at all. It recognises the usb device but only shows 3 folders, Android, LOST.DIR and buda. none of which contain any video files.
I've been using the same HDD (WD elements 1tb drive ExFAT) on my Sony Bravia 4K (KD-49XE8004) without any problems for a couple of years. Shows all the files and plays them all without issue.
Plug it into the blu ray and none show up. specs say that it will play the files formats but none are visible. do i need a different folder structure like the PS4 needs?
Any advice?
I could just keep the HDD plugged into the tv but over the last couple of weeks since the latest update, the tv opens the HDD page on its own randomly, frustrating when i'm online on the ps4.
Hi Wayne,
Welcome to the Sony Community.
I'm looking into this and will update the thread when I have an answer for you.
Best wishes,

Thanks Sean
I've tried a 250gb external disk drive and the files are visible and playable.
tried a 500gb external disk drive and the files are visible and playable.
i've erased and re-formatted the 1tb disk drive (ex-fat due to file sizes). placed one video file on the disk and same issue is presented. No file visible just the 3 folders i mentioned.
very puzzling
Hi mr_wayne,
I think the problem here is mainly with the HDD you're using. Did you try to de-register the HDD from your TV?

Hi Mr Wayne,
I agree with Vanilla on this one, if the player can detect and play files from two other HDDs, then the problem is probably with your WD drive. It doesn't necessarily mean that your HDD is faulty, but I've seen this kind of issue before where a certain USB drive would have a very specific conflict with a single device or feature.
I'm assuming you've replicated all the conditions on the two drives that actually worked of course (System file, the video files and the cable if possible).

Thanks for the reply,
I cant understand how a HDD that works perfectly on the TV wont work on the bluray player.
