Hi,

Could someone please tell me how to install Netflix on my Sony Blu Ray player? According to this article,

Netflix became available on April 24th on all 2012 networked Sony TV's & Blu Ray devices. Or is it not available yet?

Can you give us the model of your Blu-Ray player so we can check it is a 2012 model?

A 2012 model is one first released in 2012 - not an older one purchased in 2012.

Some versions don't have this available from what I believe. Would be nice to have the version number for us to check on this.

Hi,

Thanks for responding, it's the BDP-S185 (MR Version). I was specifically told by an online Sony advisor that I would be able to install the Netflix app on this device. Also, the Sony press-release states :-

"The Netflix app will be available on all 2012 Bravia, Blu-ray and Blu-ray Home Theatre models".

Hi paule74.

I think you should re-check with Sony - I think the BDP-S185 is an August 2011 model and is not compatible with Netflix.

I could be wrong but I think 2012 models have the code BDP-S?90 and end with 90. However, this is far from clear as the S185 is still being marketed by Sony.

Hi, thanks for your help.

Do you know how's best to complain about this to Sony? I checked beforehand, there is no compatability info on their website & I checked with a Sony online representitive, who told me 100% that Netflix will work with this device. You would think their online sales representitves would be better informed!

Just to be clear S185 is technically a 2011 product which carries through until later in the year as its also being used as part of a special bundle deal.

Compatible standalone products listed below

BDP-S390, S490, S590, S790
