HXD870 DVD recorder in monochrome suddenly

I recorded a TV programme at lunchtime today and all was well.  I switched on the recorder this evening to watch that programme.  Title List and everything else, including the TV channels is in monochrome.  Nothing was done between times to affect the recorder.  I am unaware of anything on the remote control that might have been pressed accidentally, so would appreciate feedback.

I powered off and removed the plug from its socket yesterday evening to no avail.  I should have powered on immediately today to see whether the problem was rectified of its own accord.  Instead, I removed the plug again for an hour, replaced it, powered on and everything is in colour and as it should be.  I am left not knowing what caused the change, but all is well.
