Stuck in a loop.

Stuck in a loop.

I have just created a Sony Entertainment Network account in order to register a bluray player. When I try to register it, it tells me I need a Sony Essentials Account. When I click the link it tells me I don't need an Essentials account if I don't already have one. I then get redirected back to where I started. How do I get out of this loop?

Please don't tell me to call sony, I've been on the phone with them all day,

the first person I talked to emailed me instructions, the first of which was "Log on to your Sony Essentials account",

the second person told me to register to psn.

Hi there

Unsure what web address you are using - but I have just created a test account (which works).  Please use the following URL to create your SEN account.

I already have a Network account.

It's telling me I need an Essentials account.

Hi there

Can you please provide some screenshots ?  Sony Essentials migrated to Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) sometime ago.  Also please include the web address in those screenshots.

Hi there

I have had a look at the screenshots you provided.  Unfortunately I cannot assist you in this matter.  Its more than likely you do have an essentials account at some point.  Have you tried adding your email address into the "Sign in to Essentials" box and clicking "Forgot Your Password"?

As I said above, approximately 2-3 years ago, Essentials migrated so SEN and you everyone who signed into essentials had to click the button to migrate to the new System.

Unfortunately I can only advise you contact SEN themselves:

Telephone: 0203 538 2665 (Mon-Sat 10:30 - 19:00 GMT) (Local rate)

Thanks for trying.

I'd already tried to do the "forgot password" trick (despite the fact that I've never signed up for Essentials) with no joy.

I'm not going to call as I've already tried numerous times and have had the worst customer experience I've ever had.

I'm just going to return it to the shop and buy a non-Sony product instead.
