Factory certified to new just basically a second hand tv

Has anyone had any issue with Sony Bravia and getting substandard replacements..

My tv broke down after 10 month they messed me around for weeks then DBS came and took the tv so I was left with no tv for 5 weeks due to Christmas period. The replacement tv (which I believed to be new) broke after 2 weeks.. I’ve now been told I’m getting a different model which I was told is factory certified to new which I’m guessing is second hand??

its a terrible way to treat customers this tv only comes with a 3 month warranty so when this one goes I’ll be out of pocket!!

Customers pay best part of grand for a tv from Somy I think they should be giving you a brand new tv and 12 month warranty with it..

it’s safe to say this is a recurring theme with Sony televisions  and they seem to only have a 12month life span,

safe to say I’ll not be buying another Somy Tv

Hi Andy,

We'll look into this and get back to you when we have more information.

Maybe another member will have some knowledge to share soon.

Best wishes,

Hi Andy17784,

While I totally understand your point, I think that it's not fair to provide a brand new TV as an exchange for a TV that has been used.

Besides, factory certified devices aren't always second hand TVs. Sometimes they are TVs that have not been used before but the engineers open them to check them so they're not considered brand new anymore.

I think it’s fair if I’m honest people buy a tv from Sony which it’s pretty expensive and I would expect at least 3-5 year use from it.. my tv broke within 12month they sent a replacement which I believed to be new but that failed after 2 weeks.. so I think Sony should have made a better effort to make up their failing with a new TV at the very least.. once more they give you a repaired tv which has already had issues and only 3 month warranty so inevitably when this one fails that’s a lot of money wasted and time off work with not even tv to show for it,

That doesn’t say much for Sony’s TVs and it’s put me right off buying them

Hi Andy17784,

I understand your point of view, but to be honest, no one can really guarantee when exactly would any electronic device go wrong!

My point is if you buy a tv and it breaks after 10 month you should get a brand new tv replacement not a refurbished which also has issues... don’t know if you work for Sony or just love them but bottom line is it’s ripping people off the price they charge you’d expect a quality tv which i don’t think is unrealistic to expect to have 3-5 year life span I have to say I’m very disappointed with the quality of both TVs I’ve received regardless of your opinion

Hi Andy17784,

I'm just a Sony fan and a customer at the end of the day. The thing is I always check terms and conditions of each agreement I get into before I buy things so that I can know what my rights are.

Having read Sony's terms and conditions, they already mention that they've the right to replace the devices/ parts with refurbished ones.

However, I can only imagine how you feel if the replacement TV didn't perform as expected as well.

Let's keep our fingers crossed until the other TV comes and see how it goes!
