BDP-S790 and the dreaded "D ON" message!

Now Sony must know what "D ON" means because in the player manual they tell you to contact them or your local authorised Sony repair centre if you see this message, In my case it means your rarely used £200 bluray player is going to cost you £115 for a new main PCB. In the motor industry there are surveys to show which make of cars are the least reliable once the warranty has expired so that you can avoid wasting your money.  Surely a bluray player is made to last more than 18 months? Has anyone else seen the "D ON" message? Shame on you Sony!
