Previewing eBooks before you buy

Does anyone know of any publishers of ebooks that allow you to look at the pages before you buy. I would like to be able to choose the books for purchase on the basis of their typefaces, page layouts, illustrations and so on. This makes a particular difference with classic authors such as Charles Dickens, whose works can be got for free, but not always in particularly attractive formats. I would be prepared to pay for more appealing editions, if only it were possible to preview them. Any suggestions?

i use kobo. they often allow you to download preview chapters. dont think it applies to all books. dont forget that calibre software can correct most of these problems. i bought a book the other day and the margins were so big that the text was only fillling 2/3 of the screen. i dont want to turn more pages than i have to so deleted the margins in calibre

When it comes to the classics head over to mobileread forums, they have a large amount of them formatted by those that care about books.

You'll also get good advice on searching for suitable books
