Brand new Bravia XF90 HDMI problems

Hi everyone, I’m a bit sad that my first message here is a big problem but here we are!

So literally just treated myself to a Bravia XF90 (KD-55XF9005).

Love it, set it up today, & no problems.

Have immediately connected a PS3 to HDMI 1, a PS4 to HDMI 2 (HDR), and an Xbox One to HDMI 3/ARC (HDR).

All seemed ok, a quick check on each HDMI channel showed pictures etc.

Now the problem -

Came to actually use my Xbox and after only a few minutes the screen picture flickers, then the grey band at the top stating the HDMI channel appears, then the screen goes black for a few seconds, then comes back on. It repeatedly did this, maybe 4 times, then went black and stayed black. It now completely fails to show any picture from the Xbox at all.

I tried a new HDMI cable, and nothing, still just a black screen, and a message saying “no HDMI input, check connection” despite it showing the Xbox is connected in the tv menu.

Tried it in HDMI 2, and it works fine and shows the picture immediately. Same with HDMI 4. So the Xbox and the cables are definitely working, but HDMI 3 just won’t display them?

I then connected  the PS4 to HDMI 3 to check, and sadly that does the same thing - it brings up the grey HDMI info bar at the top, screen goes black, picture comes back, 20 seconds or so later it does it again. Over and over. However it does recognjse and display the picture still, unlike the Xbox’s black screen.

Does it sound like the actual HDMI port is faulty?

Are there any troubleshooting steps I should try?

To clarify;

Xbox and PS4 work in every other HDMI except HDMI 3.

HDMI 3 channel will no longer recognise input from the Xbox at all.

It will recognise the PS4, but the screen keeps going black and then switching back, almost like the port connection itself is loose.

I have tried different cables/console combinations and everything else works - it seems the HDMI 3 itself is the problem.

Hoping I’ve missed something obvious? Haven’t even had it a day yet!

Thank you on advance to everyone for taking the time to read this!

Hi there,

Have you updated to the latest firmware?

Best wishes,

Thank you for the reply - I have double checked and the tv definitely says it’s system software is up to date.
