Is it OK to expect Android Oreo on 2017 Sony Android TVs?
hi @LightFoot
I would disagree that it is something on the laptop as it worked fine when the tv was running the previous nougat firmware. The only thing that has changed is updating my tv to Oreo.
Kind Regards,

Hi @abun880007
I have just tried it on an old Nought TV KD-43X8505C with my laptop and it worked so that clearly points to the Oreo update. What I find strange is it works with Oreo on my Desktop PC
If it something you cannot live without you should report it to Sony.
Hi, I have got the exact same problem when I connect the tv to the internet? Did you manage to find a solution? I've tied multiple factory resets, used my phones hotspot and reset my router but no joy. as soon as you connect the tv to the internet via wired or wireless the tv restarts. The TV worked perfectly before the Oreo update
Did you manage to fix the internet issues ?
Sony released a new update late January...unfortunately did not fix the issue with USB external media (any kind of HD...I thought is was 4K) via the native Video app. For all the forum members I am from Canada and getting updates (same upgrade cycle as the US) ahead of you by the sounds of it. Waiting for Sony to release an update that will fix the USB attached storage, also Netflix app seems to be buggy at times. I have a PlayStation and can connect Netflix with no issues if I cannot connect through the TV builtin app 😞 so they need some fix patches after the original OS update.
I should mention I can play 4K content attached via USB like new mission impossible (WORKS), new planet earth series (DOES NOT PLAY and WORKED BEFORE UPDATE), New Blue Planet (WORKS), Dynasties (WORKS) etc. with one BIG problem, video freezes at approx 42min (REBOOT) and resume playback so it's pretty buggy. I could play all 4K content via USB storage prior to the Oreo update.
Just updated my 55" ex9005 via USB ,no problems so far .However on 7.0 if I was watching my TV via sky satellite and pressed home button ,it overlayed the menu over the picture and I could continue watching TV while browsing the menu .Now when i press home button it goes off the TV broadcast and is a black background to the home menu
Hi no not yet, Sony are working on a fix for me, should be hearing back within 48hours.
@carly1981 Finally got an answer from Sony
“Thank you for baring with us until we get the reply from the team in specialty.
After validation with the concerned team, please be advised that unfortunately we will not be able to offer a free of charge repair due to the warranty status of the television.
Please be advised that as per the terms and conditions of your warranty, Sony covers manufacturer faults within the first twelve months from date of purchase”
looks like I’ve they are washing their hand. I rang and was told that millions of sets were updated and I was the only one with an issue.
