Lens rattling sound.

I have a Sony SELP 18-105 G lens. Lately when I shake it I hear a rattling sound from inside the lens. This happens when the lens is on and off the camera. I have not dropped it, or to my knowledge knocked it against anything.

Can anyone shed any light on why this is happening?

Many Thanks.

Roger.

Hi Roger,

The lens has a linear motor, so it's normal that it moves when the lens is not powered.

However, you should avoid to shake the lens since this could damage the mechanic inside.

But when the lens is attached to a camera and the camera is turned on it should not move.

If this happens, something might be wrong with your lens.

In this case you should get in touch with a repair centre.

Cheers

Peter
