Sorry, I should have mentioned that it’s a7riv. No I didn’t run any updates. A couple of days later they issue arms to have resolved itself and now both Sony and pattern batteries are working fine. Which is a relief, but at the same time a concern, in case it happens again on ye day of a shoot. Still, it’s working for now so hopefully it remains that way.
The day before it played up was a very damp day. Not raining, but a deep gorge in Scotland so everything was soaking wet, either from rain or waterfall spray. The camera didn’t seem to get wet, and I didn’t open the battery compartment while there, but that’s the only explanation I can come up with.
