Hi,
I' ve been trying to make push notifications work for my 2 messaging applications but had a hard time finding a solution. I went through all device settings, disabled battery-related modes, allowed background usage and no restrictions, no DND, enabled every notification setting in the applications. Also tried to clear cache data, restart the device and, lastly, reinstalled the applications.
The only time I received push notifications, using it or locked, was after a restart (or clear cache & force stop - reopen) but it lasted only for a very short time, say 5-10 minutes. Once I leave my device it seems that nothing is getting through! It's not that the problem exists while the phone is locked; even if I'm using the device, I'm not getting anything. As it is now, the only way to get notified is to open each application and check myself, which defeats the purpose.
I searched online and, following recommendations on the issue, I tried an application called "Doze Stopper" which didn't help either. Also, I'm getting push notifications from my e-mail client, though not instantly since the fetch interval is not short.
Last detail in case it helps: I just got a notification from one of the messaging apps after an unanswered call I received. The messages were sent 5 minutes ago but it seems that the call woke the process up.
Can anyone please offer some insights into what is going wrong?
Thanks in advance
