Wired network adapter disappears after hibernate

My Vaio SR29XN laptop runs with Vista Pro. After waking up from hibernate mode, it does not reconnect to the internet. Device Manager shows that the Marvell Yukon (wired) network adapter is no longer present (it is not listed). Sometimes I can re-install it using the 'Scan for hardware changes' option. But often this does not work and I have to reboot the machine. I have tried changing the 'power management' setting of the network adapter, so that 'Allow the computer to turn off this device' is disabled. This makes no difference. The wireless adapter always works fine. Can anyone advise what the problem might be and how to resolve it?
