I know these kind of things in Japan are cheaper but this cheap is incredible. I paid 399 Euros for mine here in Portugal.

You can get this for £200-250 in UK stores which is not cheap.

I got my VGF-AP1 for 299 Euros at www.amazon.de
They increased the price after a short while to 329 Euros, which I think is because of christmas.
In my oppinion the price is quite fair, considering the price for the iPod Photo.
Seven Years ago I paid for a simple MD Walkman 600 DM which is about 300 Euros.

About the question of Vaio TR (laptop), it is not on sale here.
Here in italy there is an offer right now in MEDIAWORLD:
20 gb => 349 euros
40 gb => 399 euros
When offer is off prices will be 399 for VGF-AP1 and 489 for VGF-AP1L
